Volunteering During the Current Crisis
Our volunteer program is changing to reflect the current needs of our area along with the most recent guidance from state and local officials. Please use this button to see current volunteer needs. The rest of this page will only be accurate after things have calmed down a bit. Thank you for your understanding!
Quick Facts About Volunteering During COVID-19:
- When you arrive, don’t get into the food line! You can drive around it to get into the location.
- You’ll find someone waiting to help you park in the right place.
- Aim to arrive 30 minutes before your shift so that you can get signed in and find a role more easily.
- If it is your first time volunteering plan to spend a few minutes registering in person by filling out one of our volunteer sheets.
EVERYTHING BELOW THIS LINE IS FOR NORMAL OPERATIONS ONLY.
Who Do We Help?
There are families in our shared communities that go to bed hungry every night. Chesterfield Food Bank exists to give a hand up to those in need. Our main clients are those who do not qualify for government assistance.
In cooperation with Social Services, we are locating and helping those families and individuals that may not have been helped in the past.
- Single parents working to try to put food on the table
- Senior citizens surviving solely on social security
- Veterans on disability
- Young couples just starting out
- People recently laid off from their job
- …and many more
Host a food drive or make a financial contribution. The Chesterfield Food Bank runs completely on donations. We can accept donations online or in person at our office: 12211 Ironbridge Road, Chester, Virginia 23831.
We are on a mission to have a food distribution location within easy access no matter where you may live in Chesterfield. With the assistance of volunteers from local businesses, churches and schools, we are excited to offer regular food distribution dates in many different areas with more on the way!

Chesterfield Food Bank Programs
With the assistance of volunteers from social services, our county government, local businesses, churches and Chesterfield school board, we are excited to offer regular food distribution dates in five areas throughout Chesterfield including Chester, Hopkins, Ettrick and Chalkley areas.
There are children in our very own community that rely completely on free or reduced meals from their school to stay fed. Through amazing food drives hosted by our dedicated community, in 2017 we collected 1.4 million pounds of food items and served approximately 7,000 children over 75,000 meals in 11 weeks. Help us continue to insure these children have enough to eat through the upcoming summer months. Summer program dates are from June 19 thru September 1, from 4-6pm, with 7 distribution locations.
The Chesterfield Food Bank provides food to 5 different partnering locations that provide hot meals Mon.-Fri. evenings in the Jefferson Davis corridor area. Please contact our office for locations and times.
The Chesterfield Food Bank is committed that no senior will be hungry. We provide food to seniors that live on a low fixed income a months worth of essential groceries for good health. Meats and fresh veggies are apart of every distribution.
We have many partners who are helping us make a difference in the Chesterfield community. Contact us today to learn how you can partner with the Chesterfield Food Bank.
